and everyone in Southern Cali.

I'd like to share with you all one of my favorite scenes from Forrest Gump. This movie didn't do much for me as a kid. I remember my mom gushing over how awesome it was (she was a Tom Hanks/Pat Dempsey fan) and I was like "calm down now... lemme get back to watching Pippen dunk on Ewing" (94 ECF. Still the GOAT of facials).

But now that I have a better understanding of the historical significance of the characters Forrest meets--and affect--in his life, suddenly this is a magical movie.

Anyway, my favorite scene: Forrest inspiring the lyrics to John Lennon's imagine

Forrest Gump: In the land of China, people hardly got nothing at all.

John Lennon: No possessions?

Forrest Gump: And in China they never go to church.

John Lennon: No religion too?

Dick Cavett: Ah. Hard to imagine.

John Lennon: Well it's easy if you try, Dick.

And you know what always gets me? When Forrest say "I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is."

Shit, that gets me every time. Even a meat-eating, WWF-loving guy (the wrestling federation, not the wildlife fund) such as myself shred a tear each time Forrest spills his guts to Jenny and gets nothing in return.

Imagine...
