Kate Moss and the Naked Mario Sorrenti (Boobie alert!)
New fall/winter 2008 issue of
Purple magazine is out now with Kate Moss and the very naked Mario Sorrenti (at least he's still wearing glasses). Sorrenti shot the famous portrait of Moss when she was merely 19 for CK "Obsession" campaign in 1993.
An interesting switch, usually in art when there is a naked person, it is the woman. I also like how Kate is ignoring the photographer, even while he is on his knees naked at her feet and has her ensnared with in his shutter release cable and is looking imploringly at her. She could be interpreted as strong and self-sufficient (i.e., male qualities), or as the bitch ice queen unconcerned with the men littered at her feet (quintessential female stereotype). Personally, I vote for ice queen.
That was probably the very best of Moss by Sorrenti or any photographer back then.
But definitely a crappy photo of them together on the cover - just hype - badly lit and badly pose - real shame - talented photographer, not sure about cover material - sorry.
